The large-scale utilization of renewable energy sources can lead to grid instability due dynamic fluctuations in generation and load. Operating lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) under pulsed operation effectively address these issues, owing LIBs providing the rapid response high density required. LIB deployment is also expected reach 20 TWh from a vehicle-to-grid application by 2030. This review therefore highlights on for future grids, covering mechanisms, effects, supporting hardware. Specific attention paid fundamental mechanisms stability electric power system micro-evolution cells. with appropriate parameters provide superior effects even high-power charging low-temperature operation. hardware that supports bidirectional pulse introduced. presents potential participating service via may forward-looking guidance community. Pulsed promising strategy stabilize within short-to-medium time scales.
